Master Bond is a pioneer in the design, formulation and manufacture of adhesives, sealants, coatings and potting/encapsulation compounds for the assembly of both disposable and reusable medical devices.
Master Bond's product line consists of epoxy adhesives, polyurethane, silicone, cyanoacrylate and latex adhesives. These uniquely designed products offer designers and manufacturers of medical products the level of reliability and performance essential for the many different operating conditions encountered.
Medical grade adhesives for the medical device industry
Master Bond's complete line of epoxy adhesives can simplify and enhance the performance of many critical medical devices. Products have been developed to retain optimal performance upon exposure to various sterilisation procedures including autoclaving, radiation, ethylene oxide and the recently developed cold sterilants. Technologies are meticulously developed for treating a variety of substrates to assure the finest performance even upon exposure to severe environmental conditions, as well as contact with a wide variety of fluids and occasional abuse. Specific formulations fully meet the USP Class VI protocol.
Biocompatible and sterilisation resistant adhesives meet USP class VI requirements
Master Bond is proud of being at the forefront of developing new and innovative products in the medical device industry. Of particular interest is EP42HT-2ND2, a high viscosity, non-drip medical grade adhesive that complies with the testing requirements of USP Class VI plastics and is capable of withstanding repeated sterilisations including radiation, chemicals and steam. Also noteworthy is EP3HTSMED, a one component, fast curing, silver-filled, electrically conductive epoxy system featuring high shear strength and good temperature resistance. Newly developed MasterSil 151MED is a two component low viscosity silicone compound for high performance casting, potting and encapsulation. And UV18MED is a one component, high strength, flexible UV curable resin compound with outstanding chemical and water resistance.
Packaging options to meet your needs
Master Bond products are packaged to save time, increase productivity, eliminate waste and improve quality assurance. They are safe, cost-effective, convenient and easy to use. Standard packaging is available in cans, bottles, jars, pails and drums. Common sizes include half pint, pint, quart, gallon, five gallon (pails) and 55 gallon (drums) units.
Other packaging options include single and double barrel syringes, cartridges, flexible divider pouches, and manual and pneumatic operated gun applicators. Sizes range from grams to several ounce units. Two component systems can also be provided in premixed and frozen syringes.
UV curable adhesives, sealants and coatings
For Master Bond UV curable adhesives, sealants and coatings, there is a "double light barrier" packaging system where the UV compound is packaged in a light blocking black applicator and the syringe itself is sealed in a black plastic pouch until ready for use. All packaging processes occur in a totally light free environment, thereby greatly lengthening shelf life at ambient temperatures and preventing premature contamination of the compounds.
Structural adhesives from Master Bond
Master Bond's structural adhesives offer design flexibility and provide excellent bonding performance with a vast array of 3,000 custom designed adhesive formulations. Adhesive properties vary in viscosity, cure speed, temperature, chemical resistance, strength, and electrical and thermal conductivity. Specific adhesive systems can be designed to meet USP Class VI certification for medical use or NASA requirements for low outgassing. Master Bond products are successfully implemented in a wide range of industries including medical, optical, aerospace, electronic, electrical, automotive, computer and OEM manufacturing.
UV curable polymers
Master Bond also offers a complete line of UV curable polymers including epoxies and urethanes, which can be used as adhesives, coatings, sealants, encapsulants and potting compounds. Specific grades are formulated to be optically clear, non-yellowing, flexible and high strength. UV curable adhesives cure extremely quickly upon exposure to a commercially available ultraviolet light source. In some cases, cures can be achieved within a couple of seconds. These compounds require no mixing and properties vary with respect to viscosity, hardness, chemical resistance, thermal stability, electrical insulation and optical properties.
To help determine what best suits the application's needs, Master Bond provides personal, one-on-one technical support and will recommend the product to match the specific design requirements of any medical device. Master Bond technical representatives have years of experience to assess your problem and will work with you throughout the design, prototype and manufacturing process. Master Bond's approach to specific technical problems emphasizes simplicity of application and reproducibility of results.
